La Ménitré

Introduction

La Ménitré is a municipality of Maine-et-Loire department (49), included into the Region of the Pays de la Loire. It is located at midway between Angers and Saumur, on the Loire banks tourist road. Created in 1824 by the union of several hamlets dispatched between three nearby municipalities, La Ménitré grows up in a polder area between the Loire river and the Authion’ one. The municipality is included in the natural park Loire-Anjou-Touraine, on a territory classified UNESCO world heritage, regarding the quality of its landscapes of the Loire. Designated as “Station verte” for holidays, it becomes a preferred destination for the visitors.

On the other hand, it has offered a nautical club, the Port-Saint-Maur waterfront or the oval island of Baure, which become during the “Mysteries of Loire” festivities, a land of natural sizes art exhibitions. La Ménitré is an architectural showcase: the city hall, the Jeanne de Laval manor, offered in the past by the king René as a present to his wife, the neo-classical church Saint-Jean-Baptiste, and also the last windmills.

La Ménitré is rich of a vibrant and various civic life. Many sportive, cultural, social,… activities are proposed to the Menitreans.
